June 20, 2009: Due to a recent drastic drop in listenership, paired with an ever-increasing difficulty in keeping the station operational with aging equipment, it is with regret that I must announce that as of midnight on the evening of Friday June 19th 2009, the Alley Extreme is no longer an operational webstream. I would like to take this opportunity to thank everyone who has tuned in over the past four years, everyone who has written in with comments and suggestions for songs, and I hope that in the future if a second incarnation of the Alley Extreme can be brought online, that I will see you all again.

So you're wondering "what the hell is the Alley Extreme?" Well, in short, it's an independently-run alternative-rock internet radio station affiliated to the Unity Radio Network. Also, it's a truly international station, playing songs in over 10 different languages, by bands from over 20 different nations.
Now when you think of "alternative-rock radio", you think of those stations aimed at 30-somethings who consider alternative rock to be bands like Coldplay and all that British candy-pop that seems to have made a splash recently. Well, we don't touch that crap. We at the Alley Extreme will play only true ALTERNATIVE ROCK. That is to say, we'll play heavy rock that doesn't make it to normal radio, we'll play punk rock, heavy metal, some ska and reggae, basically anything that's just off mainstream radio's radar screens. You'll also hear from a lot of independent bands here, from anywhere and everywhere.
You see, that's the beauty of what we do here at the Alley Extreme. We play the underground music for the underground music fans, the truly alternative music that you might not hear anywhere else otherwise. So give your ears a treat and click a "Listen Live" link at the top. You won't regret it.
